In short

A French government scholarship for a master’s, an engineering diploma or a PhD, in a short list of fields. The university nominates you. If you wait for a public student deadline, you will miss it, because there isn’t one.

Law and political science are on the humanities list. Engineering, mathematics and digital fields are on the science list. Biology and health is the medical opening. It is not a scholarship for clinical training in a hospital, and it is not for a subject outside those lists.

Who can apply

  • You are not French, and a French institution is willing to nominate you.
  • For a master’s or an engineering diploma you are 29 or under. For a PhD you are 35 or under.
  • The programme is in one of the priority fields: biology and health; ecological transition; mathematics and digital; engineering; law and political science; economics and management; or French history, language and civilisation.

Papers they ask for

  • Whatever that university’s international office asks for. It is their form, then their upload to Campus France.
  • Transcripts, a CV, and a study plan that matches one priority field.

What it pays

  • Master’s: €1,200 a month, the rate Campus France states from January 2026
  • Doctorate: €2,000 a month on that same implementation page. A 2027 country note has printed €2,100. Use the figure in the 2027 regulation
  • Tuition waived for a national diploma at a public university. A private school’s fees are not covered
  • An economy flight, health cover on arrival, then free student social security

How to apply

  1. Pick the French programme first, not the scholarship.
  2. Email the international office this month and ask two things: whether they will nominate for Eiffel 2027, and the date they stop taking student files.
  3. Send them a complete file before their date. Many faculties close in October, November or December 2026.
  4. The institution’s last day to send nominations to Campus France is Wednesday 6 January 2027. That date is not yours.

Read this before you file

  • Length of the award: up to 12 months if you enter in the second year of a master’s, up to 24 months from the first year, and up to 36 months for an engineering diploma.
  • A private school’s tuition is not paid. The fee waiver is for a national diploma at a public institution.
  • Housing is not a full rent payment. Campus France may help you find a room. Budget for the gap.
