In short

A master’s taught by at least three universities in at least three countries, with a period of study in more than one of them. Many of the programmes offer full scholarships to the best-ranked applicants. You apply to the programme, not to a central Erasmus office.

Law, public health and engineering programmes exist, but the title has to match. Search the catalogue for the subject, then read that consortium’s site. A programme that merely mentions “law” in one module is not a law degree.

Who can apply

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree, or you are in the last year of one and you will have graduated before the master’s starts. A recognised equivalent can be accepted.
  • You meet that programme’s own subject, language and grade rules. Worldwide applicants, including Sierra Leone, are eligible to be considered.

Papers they ask for

  • The list on that programme’s website. It is never the same twice: degree, transcript, motivation letter, references, and often a language certificate.
  • A scholarship section inside the same application, if the programme separates fee-paying places from scholarship places. Some do.

What it pays

  • Participation costs
  • A monthly living allowance
  • Travel and installation support, on the terms of that programme

How to apply

  1. Search the official Erasmus Mundus catalogue. Note the programme, not just the subject area.
  2. Leave the catalogue and open the programme’s own site. Read who the partner universities are, which countries you would actually live in, and the deadline.
  3. Apply there. For a start in autumn 2027, most deadlines fall between October 2026 and January 2027. Some have already closed.

Read this before you file

  • A scholarship, where the programme offers one, covers participation costs and contributes to travel, a visa and a living allowance. The catalogue page does not print one euro amount for every programme. Use the figure on the programme site.
  • The degree is either one joint certificate or two or more national certificates. Ask which, before you assume a Sierra Leone employer or a bar will read it the way you hope.
  • The course is one to two years, at 60, 90 or 120 credits. You move. Budget for more than one visa.
