Privacy Policy

Lanbuk (www.lanbuk.com) is a free learning library run by Patrick S. Vandi, ESQ, 34 Campbell Street, Freetown, Sierra Leone ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: [email protected].

What we collect

• Browsing without an account. You can read and download most files without signing up. Our host keeps standard request logs (IP address, browser, pages requested), and we use Google Analytics to count visits.
• Accounts. If you create an account with an email code, we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We never see your Google password.
• Account activity. For signed-in users we keep a list of the files you download and basic account activity, so you can see them on your account page.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the time and the page you signed up from.
• Notes you share. When you use Share your notes, we receive the file and what you type in the form (such as your name, email, level, subject and message), plus your IP address to prevent abuse.
• Contact form. Your name, email, optional phone number and message.

How we use it

• To run your account, send sign-in and verification codes, and keep it secure.
• To email you about new files if you subscribed or have an account (every email has an unsubscribe link).
• To review, publish and credit notes you share, and to reply to your messages.
• To stop spam and abuse, and to understand how the site is used.

We do not sell your information and we do not show third-party advertising.

Services we use

• Vercel hosts the website and its server functions (and briefly holds uploaded notes before they are moved to storage).
• Neon (Postgres database) stores accounts, sessions, newsletter subscribers and download history.
• Cloudflare R2 stores the library files and the notes you share.
• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that sign-ups and form submissions come from a person.
• Gmail (Google) SMTP sends our emails, such as codes, newsletter and replies.
• Google for "Continue with Google" sign-in and Google Analytics.

These providers may process data outside Sierra Leone, under their own privacy terms.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and Google Analytics cookies to measure visits. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Shared notes and messages are kept as long as they are needed to run the library. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any newsletter.
• Ask us to see, correct or delete your information, or to close your account, by emailing [email protected].
• Ask us to remove notes you shared.

Children

Lanbuk is for students and learners. If you are under 13, please use it with a parent or guardian, and do not create an account yourself.

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. See also our Terms of Use.
