The long title says the Act was passed to establish a Commission to secure and monitor the legitimate exploitation of Sierra Leone's gold and diamonds, and other resources that are determined to be of strategic importance for national security and welfare as well as to cater for post-war rehabilitation and reconstruction, as provided for under Article XXVIII of the Lome Peace Agreement.

Repealed by No. 12 of 2009.
