In short

Two or three undergraduate scholarships a year, for students from low-income countries who have a place at Oxford and no realistic way to take a degree at home. The award is full. The first gate is the UCAS deadline, which is days away, not the scholarship form.

Jurisprudence is eligible. Engineering Science is eligible. Medicine is not, whatever a repost says. A law applicant sits the LNAT. An engineering applicant sits the admissions test Oxford names for that course. Check the course page before you pay for the wrong test.

Who can apply

  • You are a Sierra Leone national. Sierra Leone is on the OECD list Oxford prints.
  • You would not be able to study this degree in Sierra Leone, for money, for politics, or because the course does not exist here.
  • You have not already taken an undergraduate degree. Oxford can consider someone who has, but it says those applicants are not the priority.
  • You intend to return home after the degree.

Papers they ask for

  • A UCAS application for an Oxford undergraduate course, with the academic reference UCAS asks for.
  • The admissions test for that course, booked on the timetable Oxford publishes. Law is the LNAT. Medicine would have been UCAT, but medicine is not funded here.
  • Written work, if the course asks for it, sent to the college by 10 November.
  • The scholarship form itself, when Oxford posts it. Do not invent a form in October.

What it pays

  • Course fees for the length of the course, three or four years
  • A grant for living costs
  • One return flight each year

How to apply

  1. Choose the course on the Oxford page and confirm it is not medicine.
  2. Submit UCAS before 6pm UK time on 15 October 2026. That is 5pm in Freetown while the UK is on summer time.
  3. Sit the test and send any written work on the dates the course page gives.
  4. If you are offered a place on 12 January 2027, apply for Reach Oxford by 26 January 2027, using the instructions that will be on the Oxford page that month.

Read this before you file

  • About two or three awards are made each year. An Oxford offer is not the scholarship.
  • Not every college offers it every year. Oxford says a successful applicant at a college that is not taking part can be moved.
  • You write a short report each year. The next year’s money depends on academic progress.
  • Anyone who offers to ‘secure’ a Reach Oxford nomination for a fee is not the university.
