Summary

The 1973/74 Supplementary Appropriation Act, 1974 is a money law of the Sierra Leone Parliament. It authorised the issue from the Consolidated Fund of further sums required to meet government expenditure for the 1973/74 financial year that had not been provided for, or had been under-provided for, in the original Appropriation Act for that year.

Like all supplementary appropriation legislation, its substance lies in its Schedule, which sets out the extra amounts voted and the heads of expenditure (the ministries, departments and services) to which those amounts are appropriated. The Act gives legal authority for the spending and ensures it is accounted for through the normal public-finance framework.

Main provisions

  • Authorises the issue of supplementary sums from the Consolidated Fund for the 1973/74 financial year.
  • Appropriates those sums to the heads of expenditure set out in the Schedule.
  • The Schedule lists the additional amounts voted for each service or vote.
  • Operates within the public-finance and accounting rules then in force for the control of government expenditure.
